I thought I was good at sharpening knives with a stone, but then I purchased this sharpener and it put all of my past experience to shame! The operation is very intuitive and simple. The principle behind it is that the stone is angled, rather than you having to hold the blade at a steady angle. All you have to do is hold the blade vertically and pull it across the stones. It comes with 2 sets of stones: a coarse stone to do an initial sharpen and a fine stone to make it razor sharp. There are also 2 brass rods that are mounted between the rods and where you hold the sharpener to keep you from cutting yourself. All of the stones and rods fit inside the base for neat, compact storage. There are tons of different things you can sharpen with this sharpener, from knifes and scissors to fish hooks and needles. I would recommend this sharpener to anyone that needs a sharp knife.
